Sheikh Tamjidur Rahman

I graduated from the Department of Textile Engineering at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Bangladesh, where I completed my bachelor thesis on the development of a triboelectric nanogenerator. This work first introduced me to the potential of advanced functional materials and their applications in energy harvesting.

Currently, I am pursuing a master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Wuhan Institute of Technology. My research focuses on supercapacitor electrodes and gas sensing materials for high-voltage power equipment, enabling me to explore both energy storage and sensing technologies.

Looking forward, I am particularly interested in advancing research on carbon-based electrodes and semiconductor gas-sensing processes. I also maintain a strong interest in applying computational methods to materials research, as I believe such interdisciplinary approaches can accelerate innovation in energy and sensing applications.

What are my research interests?

My research focuses on developing advanced carbon-based and semiconductor materials for energy storage, sensing, and environmental applications. I work on graphene thin films, porous nanosheets, and biochar-derived carbons as supercapacitor electrodes, emphasizing scalable synthesis methods such as flash joule heating. In parallel, I investigate porous biochar electrodes for capacitive deionization in water purification, semiconductor gas-sensing materials for high-voltage equipment, and catalytic materials for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions. I am also interested in multifunctional nanohybrids like MXenes that integrate energy storage, sensing, and catalytic performance.

  1. Materials Synthesis & Processing: Nanomaterial design, electrode fabrication, thin-film preparation
  2. Analytical Characterization: Structural, morphological, and surface chemistry analysis
  3. Electrochemical Testing: Proficiency in CV, GCD, EIS, HER/OER testing
  4. Device Fabrication: Assembly of supercapacitor cells, CDI units, and gas sensor prototypes
  5. Data Analysis & Simulation: Electrochemical data fitting, impedance modeling, computational tools for material–property correlation
  6. Interdisciplinary Integration: Bridging energy storage, sensing, and environmental applications with sustainable materials

What are my personal interests?

My interests lie with everything that is creative. I find every technical thing very fascinating, and I spontaneously learn those things. Since my childhood I was raised with an open mind, my family never pushed me to be something. I was not raised to meet the perfection; I was raised to be a learner. When I was at the university, I found out that knowledge does not matter if it is earned in a hurry. I saw many students having a great academic record having nothing but certificates. On the other hand, students who were not that great ended up making a good fortune out of their skills. So, I have developed my mind to accept everything that seems valuable to me. I can get across things easily which some people might find very hard. I often say that no knowledge is useless, so I keep my mind open to be amazed by anything that people have to offer.

I want to pursue my career as a researcher and want to follow the footsteps of the greatest researchers out there. I am a dedicated and hard-working person who is true believer of miracles that are happening every moment. And no miracle happens without first an attempt or opportunity.
